NANAY - The MOTHER Who Started It All

JOINED ME in this journey was...

ANASTACIA O. ACIERTO
- Nanay Tacing, as we called her, a native of Bicol and was born April 15, 1928. She faced the challenge of married life at a young age of 14 to ARMANDO ACIERTO and had blessed with 6 children, two older boys; Dante and Danilo (both deceased) and four girls: Lourdes, Teresita, Aida and Gloria, who are now living her legacy as devoted, loving and hard-working mothers...

"Being a mother is the noblest profession but the hardest of all."

Nanay Tacing with Tatay Narding and their 4 daughters

She was our beloved Nanay who dedicated her whole life in guiding not only her children but her children's children. I am her eldest "apo" (granddaughter) with her eldest daughter, Lourdes (my mother) and when I gave birth to my firstborn she was there to assist my mom in taking care of my little Aya when she was barely one. I could hardly find a nanny but she's there to take the place. My daughter is fortunate enough to feel her warm embrace.

I remember when my cousins and I were still young, we used to visit her house every Sunday. It's always bonding time... We would play all day and just hang out and had fun. She cooked for us and during occasions like Christmas and New Year, we gathered together for simple celebrations. We really developed such closeness that gets stronger through the years.

October 26, 2009... was the day Nanay Tacing left us to join her Creator but her memories will linger in our hearts for the rest of our lives. She may not be with us physically but her spirit will still guide us in this journey through life.

Her four daughters LOURDES, TERESITA, AIDA and GLORIA will remain committed in pursuing what she had started...

See how our family is bonded with love deeply rooted from our NANAY TACING... the MOTHER who started it all.

I made this video last 2011 and now, I wish to share this with you on MOTHER'S DAY. I believe that every mother has a selfless heart to sacrifice for the welfare of her children.

HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY

to Nanay Tacing
 Mommy Lourdes (my mother)
Mommy Marina (my mother-in-law)
and to all the mothers out there!

  1. Similar to your Nanay Tacing... my daughter calls my mother as "Nanay" as well as my niece and nephew. It's truly inspirational of what our grandmother can do ie. guidance to their grandchildren.

    1. We, Filipinos have that closely-knit ties that make us different and unique compared to other races. Our children are lucky to have experienced the extra-ordinary care of a grandmother because others never did.

Happy Mother's Day to your wife and mother Sir Archie!

  2. It has been said that it takes a strong woman to hold a home and family together. I believe your Nanay Tacing was one such woman as manifested by the unity among her four daughters.

    1. I must agree with you Ms Teresa... Nanay Tacing had been a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother to my children. I will never experience how it is to be like her... having to cuddle a great grand child. :(

She truly is the NANAY to all of us.

Happy Mother's Day to you as well. :)

  4. The unity of a family up to its widest extension merely depend on strong "light" of the family- Ang Nanay... soon Lola. Sa Pinas- Hindi natatapos ang obligasyon ng mga nanay sa anak- extended hanggang sa kaapo apohan. Happy mother's Day to ur Nanay Tacing, to your Mother and to all mothers out there!

  6. At the age of 71, your beloved Nanay as you're used to call your best grandma, has left you and you've missed her so much for her invaluable service to your daughter Aya. She's a good cook and she cooked for you every time visit her. You've valued her so much. You've got a wonderful Nanay in the person of Anastacia. It's good you've given her a simple, but meaningful tribute in this Mother's Day.

  7. A mother is the guiding light at home and your "NANAY" is one of the examples. The light of the family who shared her life with her siblings down to her four daughters and now to her grandchildren. Hope you can pursue the things she started and make her more proud. Happy mother's day sis Marri.

They deserve a hats off and salute to this very special day.

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers worldwide.
